Causes and Avoidance of Contemporary Technological Risks: An Analysis Based on Media Dimension

媒体正以惊人的力量介入当代技术风险的处理过程,它不仅充当不同利益相关者的“传声筒”,而且会选择性报道、隐匿、扭曲、夸大部分风险事实,甚至对一些技术冠以恶名,引起一系列负面的“涟漪效应”。当代技术风险事件经历着萌芽期、爆发期和消退期。不同的风险规避阶段媒体应该发挥不同的功能:萌芽期发挥预警功能、爆发期发挥告知功能、消退期发挥总结功能。

The media are intervening in the process of dealing with contemporary technological risks with strong force.The media not only acts as the"mouthpiece"of different stakeholders,but also selectively reports,conceals,distorts and exaggerates most of the risk facts,and even stigmatizes some technologies,causing a series of negative effects.Contemporary technological risk events are experiencing a period of germination,outbreak and recession.Media should play different roles in different stages of risk aversion.The early warning function should be given full play in the germination stage,the informing function in the outbreak stage and the summarizing function in the recession stage.
