The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of chitosan gradient on growth performance and immune-related enzymes activities ofBabylonia areolata. 480 B. areolata weighingabout 0.9 g were randomly divided into 12 cul-ture test boxes. 40 B. areolata were placed ineach box and fed with diets containing 0, 0.2%,0.6% and 1% chitosan respectively. The dailyfeeding amount was about 5% of the total B. are-olata and the feeding test time was 90 days. The results showed that the survival rates of B. areolata with 1% and 0.6% chitosan were 94.17% and92.5% respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05). Therewere no significant differences in weight gain, fatness, meat-to-chitosan ratio and viscera ratio be-tween the two groups(P>0.05). AKP and ACP activities in liver and pancreas of snails with 0.6% chi-tosan addition were significant(P<0.05). The activity of lysozyme in liver and pancreas of 0.2% chito-san group was significantly higher than that of control group and 0.6% chitosan group(P<0.05). Theresults indicated that the addition of chitosan in the feed could increase the survival rate of B. areolataby increasing the activity of immune-related enzymes in the liver, and to a certain extent acceleratethe growth rate.
