As a recent "topic film", Looking Up is representative in the gains and losses of its creation. The filmmakers try to describe "what life should be" rather than "life as it is", with the help of the symbolic expression of "Galaxy" image, in order to provide a better way to grasp the reality. However, the attempt has failed due to the lack of specific plot fulcrum. This paper analyses the gains and losses in the authenticity of the film, including the specificity of details, the logic of narration, and the consistency of values and behaviors.
