Breeding of the New Sponge Gourd Variety Zaoguan 401

早冠丝瓜401是以H4为父本、以X01为母本配制而成的丝瓜一代杂种;品种熟性极早熟,植株蔓生,生长势较强;主蔓第5~8节着生第一朵雌花,从出苗至始收需57~60 d;果实呈短棒圆筒形,果皮绿色,单果重0.35~0.60 kg,果实纵径33~38 cm,横径3.9~4.2 cm,前期产量为870 kg/667m2,全期产量可达2 750 kg/667m2,适合在长江流域和湖南地区等地大面积种植。

The new sponge gourd variety Zaoguan 401 was F1 hybrid bred from the cross of the male parent H4 and the female parent X01.This variety is extremely early maturing in vine plant with a vigorous growth;the first pistillate flower is born on the fifth–eighth node;from sprouting to first ripening it prolongs 57-60 d;its fruit is green in cylinder shape like a short stick;the single fruit weights 0.35-0.60 kg at 33-38 cm length and 3.9-4.2 cm width;its early fruit yield is 13 050 kg/hm2 and total yield 41 250 kg/hm2.This variety is suitable for being planted on large scale in the Yangtze River Basin and Hunan regions.
