The vanguard novels taking the language experiment and the structure of labyrinth as its significant features lost readers after a gradual loss of its referential meaning.Subsequent works of the transitional period were profoundly influenced by the Nobel Laureate Singer’s Gimpel the Fool from the perspectives of narration,writing technique or emotional tone.Gimpel the Fool not only greatly influenced,but also added lots of charm to the modern Chinese literary world,which cannot be ignored.In the process of absorbing,choosing and imitating the essence of the novel,the avant-garde writers created the neo-realist novels expressing the rebelling and exceeding spirits of the vanguard novels with Chinese background.Some novelists deliberately broke through the narrative features of vanguard novels and aimed at a realization of a rational return to the form and content of the traditional novel.
