Research on the Single Syllable Adjective Synonym in “Mencius”

探究同义词首先要确定的就是同义词的界定、认定标准和认定方法。通过对《孟子》单音节形容词性同义词进行考释,选取几组具有代表性的单音节形容词性同义词,分析其在词义,语法功能和表达色彩方面的差异来进一步探究《孟子》中同义词的同义关系。对现代汉语同义词的研究和对语言学的历史语义学研究都具有重要意义。

The first thing we should do is to confirm three elements of synonyms while researching,its definition,identification criteria and recognition methods.Secondly,we can investigate Mencius and elaborate the above elements by taking several representative groups of adjective synonym as examples.We analyze their differences in meaning,grammatical functions,and expressive features for a further study on the synonymous meanings of synonyms in Mencius,which not only plays a major role in the study of modern Chinese synonyms,but also has a great impact on Historical Semantics of Linguistics.
