On the 70th anniversary of the founding of the country: Chinese opera at its prime

今年,是中华人民共和国成立70周年。70年时间不算短,但对于有着400多年历史的歌剧艺术而言,只是刚刚起步。党的十七大提出要推动“文化大发展大繁荣”,十八大明确了要“建设文化强国”,在“文化建设是灵魂”的社会大背景之下,中国歌剧正处于最好的发展机遇当中,正所谓:七十年华非古稀,中国歌剧正当时。回顾70年中国歌剧的发展,可以用“红色引领、开放多元、聚力探索”十二字来概括。

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Compared with the operatic genre, who traces four centuries since its birth, Chinese opera is relatively young. However, during the past seven decades, Chinese opera has already made its mark, best summarized with the following motto: "directed by revolutionary zeal, open and diversified, intent on exploration."
