Traditional English grammar regards structure as meaningless,ignores the relationship between structure and semantics,and overemphasizes sentence forms and grammatical rules,which results in the simplicity and mechanics of grammar teaching and affects people's learning and teaching of English to a certain extent.Cognitive linguistics,starting from people's cognition,attaches importance to semantics and emphasizes the organic combination of form and semantics.The theoretical explanatory power of cognitive linguistics is very powerful,which can reasonably answer learners'questions and provide new perspectives and models for teaching.Guiding the practical teaching of college English grammar with cognitive linguistics is in line with people's pursuit of semantics in the new era and has practical significance.
