A Study of the Narrative Techniques in Sudanese Novel The Longing of the Dervish

《苦行僧的渴望》是苏丹作家哈穆尔·奇亚戴的第二部长篇小说。这部小说以马赫迪运动这一苏丹历史中的重大事件为背景,讲述了主人公巴赫特为爱复仇的故事。本文以经典叙事学理论为指导,对这部小说的叙述手法进行了研究,分析了作者哈穆尔·奇亚戴如何运用网状的故事框架、多元的叙述视角,以及叙述者的评论干预来展示自己对信仰、暴力等问题的思考。

The Longing of the Dervish is the second novel of the Sudanese writer Hammour Ziada.The novel is based on the Mahdist war,a major event in the history of the Sudan,telling the revenge story of the protagonist Bakhi Mindeel.Guided by the classical narratology theory,this paper studies the narrative techniques of this novel,and analyzes how the author Hammour Ziada uses the Mesh story frame,the multiple narrative perspectives and the narrator interventions to show his thinking about issues such as beliefs and violence.
