摘要
Taking the South Pacific region as its backyard,Australia has been closely observing this region for an extended period of time.However,in the wake of the September 11 attacks,Australia followed the lead of the United States and got involved in the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War,thus scaling down its activities in the South Pacific.With the US shifting its strategic focus back to the Asia-Pacific or Indo-Pacific region in recent years,Australia has switched its attention back to its surrounding areas as well.
