一对中国夫妇与李约瑟博士的交往

Communication Between a Chinese Couple and Dr. Needham

张官廉夫妇是生长于20世纪上半叶中国动乱社会背景下的一代知识分子,曾经在抗日战争的烽火岁月里,扎根西北,收留孤儿,和国际友人路易·艾黎一起创办兰州培黎工艺学校,为西北的工合运动发展做出了不可磨灭的贡献。1943年,李约瑟博士考察兰州,与张官廉夫妇相识相交,从此开启了长达多半个世纪的跨国友谊。晚年,他们间的书信更为频繁,他们彼此回顾着早年的经历,自己的近况,并关心问候着对方。本文在李约瑟博士与张官廉夫妇的信件的基础上,结合翔实的史料,简要回顾了张官廉夫妇的职业生涯以及和李约瑟博士之间长达半个多世纪的友谊。

Zhang Guanlian and his wife were a generation of intellectuals who grew up in the turbulent social background in China in the first half of the 20th century.They once settled in northwest China and adopted orphans during the Anti-Japanese War,and they founded Baillie Craft School with Rewi Alley together,a foreign friend,in Lanzhou city.Zhang and his wife made an indelible contribution to the development of the Industrial Cooperative Movement in northwest China.In 1943,Dr.Needhamand met and associated couple of Zhang when he investigated in Lanzhou,and then they had maintained their transnational friendships for more than half a century.In their later years,they wrote letters to each other frequently,and recalled each other's early experiences,and cared about each other's situations.This paper combined with detailed historical materials and briefly reviewed careers of Zhang and his wife,and their lasting friendship with Dr.Needham based on letters for each other.
