在英国文学研究中,苏格兰文学很久以来仅仅被当作是英国文学的附属。其实,苏格兰文学尤其是苏格兰小说在历史与现实的拉锯中,具有充沛的活力和特性,正从边缘走向前台。2019年出版的《当代苏格兰小说研究》在这方面展开了积极探讨。该书基于已有研究成果,从历史的、文化的、民族的视角,分析了当代苏格兰小说的演变轨迹与发展趋势,并通过个案研究点面结合地揭示其美学品格与艺术特征,由此发掘当代苏格兰小说的价值和意义。本文认为,该书注重文学与社会的关联,兼顾个性分析与整体观照以及民族性与文学性,丰富了我国在苏格兰文学方面的研究,为探究文学的民族性、文学性和社会性作出了有益的尝试。

Though often seen as a subgenre to English literature,Scottish literature,especially Scottish fiction,is gradually moving from the margins,with its growing vitality and uniqueness in the interaction between history and reality.A Study of Contemporary Scottish Fiction,published in 2019,well investigates this phenomenon.Well based on previous researches,this book reviews the development of contemporary Scottish fiction from historical,cultural and ethnical perspectives,and unearths its aesthetic quality and artistic features through a variety of case studies.The book emphasizes the connection between literature and society while striking proper balances between individual analysis and overall observation,between nationality and literariness.It promotes the studies of Scottish literature in China as well as the exploration into the nationality,literariness and sociality of literature.
