Objective To investigate the effect of minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw system on postoperative infection in patients with thoracolumbar vertebral fractures. Methods 80 patients with thoracolumbar vertebral fractures who underwent surgery from March 2016 to September 2017 were selected as observation subjects. According to the coin method, they were divided into two groups, named the traditional group(n=40) and minimally invasive group(n=40). Patients in the traditional group were treated with conventional open surgery, patients in the minimally invasive group were treated with minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw system. The surgical status, postoperative infection rate and poor prognosis of the two groups were compared. Results The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and postoperative drainage volume of the patients with minimally invasive thoracolumbar vertebral fractures were significantly different from those of the traditional group(P<0.05). The incidence of infection and poor prognosis in the minimally invasive group were lower than those in the traditional group(P<0.05). Conclusion The treatment of patients with thoracolumbar vertebral fractures with minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw system is relatively effective, which not only reduces the probability of postoperative infection, but also facilitates the recovery of patients’ health as soon as possible after surgery.
