英汉对比视角下夏济安《作者自序》中复数名词的翻译

The Translation of English Plural Noun: a Case Study of Tsi-an Hsia ’s Version of The Author’s Account of Himself from Perspective of Contrast Between English and Chinese

英语名词存在数的语法范畴,复数名词便是这一范畴的具体体现,但是汉语中名词却无相应的语法范畴。通过分析夏济安《作者自序》一文中对于英语复数名词的处理,从中总结出译者所采用的方法。英汉两种语言对于名词复数概念的存在不同表达方式,对夏济安的译本进行仔细分析,由此发现在处理英语复数名词时夏济安所采用的主要方式为借助相关句法成分以及上下文语境。

English nouns possess the grammatical category of number and they are an important realization of this category.But for Chinese nouns,there is no such a corresponding grammatical category.By analyzing Tsi-an Hsia’version of The Author’s Account of Himself,this paper aims to summarize the approaches he adopts.This paper illustrates differences in the expression of plural nouns in English and Chinese respectively and thoroughly analyzes Tsi-an Hsia’version.Based on these analyses,it becomes clear that the primary ways Tsi-an Hsia takes to convey the meaning of plural nouns,are via the relevant syntactic components and context.
