An Investigation on the Traditional Handicraft of Making Taiping Wagons in Pingyu, Henan

通过对河南平舆太平车制作技艺的实地调查,基于口述史资料、文献资料和博物馆收藏实物,较为翔实、全面地整理了从人员与场地安排、工具设备、原料准备、工艺流程到产品的制造过程;认为太平车的制造基本保存了传统技艺的成分,但在交通技术和运输工具极为便利的今天,太平车在人们日常生产生活中已失去原来的需求市场和存续环境.

Based on an investigation on the traditional handicraft of making Taiping wagons in Henan, the paper tries to sort out the whole process of making wagons in detail, which includes craftsmen, workplace, tools, materials, technological process, and products.The paper also points out that the present Taiping wagon-making basically preserves traditional handicraft, however, with the increasing convenience of transportation, the Taiping wagons have lost the original market demand and surviving environment in daily production and living.
