The problems existing in two core equipments of the waste heat recovery system of process gas in the ammonia plant using natural gas as feedstock were introduced. The reasons for the renovation of high-pressure waste heat boiler and high-pressure steam preheater were analyzed, and the selection of transformation route, the difficulties encountered and the measures to solve them were discussed. The transformation effect and economy were also evaluated.
