华裔作家的文化自信与传承创新——佛教思想与陈美龄小说《雌狐月饼复仇记》

Buddhism and Marilyn Chin’s Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen

当代华裔美国作家陈美龄的长篇小说《雌狐月饼复仇记》受到中国传统佛教思想的很大影响。作家借用了佛教的"人生即苦""再生轮回"等观念来构建小说的整体结构、设计人物角色,并由此凸显了小说的女性主义主题。通过改写佛教譬喻故事、戏仿禅宗公案故事,小说探索了佛教思想对于当代华裔美国人所面临的问题和挑战的借鉴意义。通过对传统佛教思想的创新性借用和改写,反思并真实再现了华裔美国人的生存状况以及流散华人的命运,体现了华裔作家对母国文化的文化自信和文化传承。

The contemporary Chinese American writer Marilyn Chin’s novel Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen was apparently influenced by traditional Chinese Buddhism.Mariyn Chin appropriated such Buddhist concepts like Life is sufferings,the cycle of Samsara to construct the whole structure of the novel and design the characters in it.By doing so,Mariyn Chin highlighted the novel’s feminist theme.Through rewriting Buddhist allegories and parodying koans,Mariyn Chin explored the significance of Buddhism to the problems and challenges with which contemporary Chinese Americans are confronted.By creatively rewriting the traditional Buddhist thought,Mariyn Chin reflected and vividly represented Chinese American people’s living and the destiny of diaspora Chinese.
