摘要
芋头是夏威夷土著居民的主食之一,其传统种植及食用实践最能集中体现夏威夷土著本土知识及信仰体系,从而使得芋头以“物”的方式承载与传递了夏威夷土著居民的民族认同,并拉开了与美国联邦政府同化诉求的差距。面对夏威夷“王国”倾覆的惨痛历史以及被美国占领统治的现实背景,夏威夷土著居民始终坚持芋头的传统种植和利用方式并以类似行动表达民族自决的强烈意愿。通过对夏威夷当代芋头种植和利用的深入探讨,可以从一个侧面透视夏威夷土著居民对美国联邦制国家认同的背离。
Taro is the staple food of indigenous Hawaiian.Practice of its traditional planting and consumption best reflect native Hawaiian knowledge and belief.Thus taro as a material object carries and delivers indigenous Hawaiian ethnic identity,which is discrepant with assimilation by federal government of the United States.Confronting the overthrow of Hawaiian Kingdom and occupation by the United States,indigenous Hawaiian insist in strong self-determination by practicing traditions like taro planting and consumption.Therefore,research on taro in contemporary Hawaii provides perspective of how indigenous Hawaiian deviating from state identity of the United States.
