It was surprising that Grotowski turned to mysterious explorations when he was at the height of his theatre career. Then what is the core concern of his post-theatrical activities? This essay will analyze those complicated activities from the perspective of philosophical anthropology. A rather surprising discovery could be obtained from this perspective: Grotowski’s post-theatrical activities are aimed at exploring"the mystery of humanity"and answering three fundamental questions as"who am I","where do I come from"and"where am I going", and then finding and achieving"the task of life", instead of making theatrical innovations. In a word, his post-theatrical activities have profound philosophical and anthropological implications, presenting "the miracle of life", and its contemporary significance lies more in the aspect of human life than in the aspect of dramatic innovation.
