Cai Yuanpei’s Three Newly-discovered Speeches

苏州振华女学、苏州中学的校刊上曾登载蔡元培的三篇演讲,均未被浙江教育出版社版《蔡元培全集》收录。经考证,1931年的两篇演讲稿与全集中《在苏州中学演说(要点)》一文系同次演说的不同记录,1936年的演讲稿是蔡元培为振华女学三十周年纪念会撰写、由陶冷月代读的佚稿。全集已收的两篇演讲稿有考订不确之处,不揣谫陋指出,以就教于方家。

Three speeches by Cai Yuanpei, respectively published in the school journals of Zhenhua Girls’ School in Suzhou and Suzhou Middle School, have not been included in Cai Yuanpei’s Complete Works published by Zhejiang Education Press. The two of them in 1931 are another different versions of the speech made in Suzhou Middle School in the complete works;the one in 1936 is written by Cai for the 30 th anniversary of Zhenhua Girls’ School, but read by his friend Tao Lengyue. Additionally, the inaccuracies in the textual research of the two speeches in Cai Yuanpei’s Complete Works are boldly pointed out for the correction of the experts.
