Integrating into the Overall Development Plan of China-An Analysis of the “Mainland Factors” in Macao’s Economic Boom since Its Return to China Two-Decade Ago

回归前,澳门的经济发展离不开“祖国内地因素”的重要支撑和重要保障作用;回归后,澳门的经济发展,实现“经济适度多元发展”和构建“一个中心”“一个平台”,也必须在融入国家发展大局的过程中、在搭上祖国内地改革发展“顺风车”的过程中来成就。一个虽然略显矛盾但是却符合逻辑的历史事实是——无论是回归前还是回归后,资本主义澳门的经济发展与繁荣,始终是依靠社会主义的祖国内地这个坚强后盾为其“保驾护航”并提供源源不断的成长动力和成长空间的。

Before its return to China,Macao’s economic development could not be separated from the critical support of the“mainland factors”.After its return,Macao’s economic boom as well as its realization of the“moderately diversified economy”and the construction of“one center”and“one platform”can only be achieved by integrating itself into the overall development of the country and riding on the“free ride”of the reform and development of the Chinese mainland.A seemingly contradictory but logical historical fact is that,before and after the return,the economic development and prosperity of the capitalist Macao has relied on the strong backing up of its socialist mainland which safeguards and provides sustainable energy and sufficient space for its growth.
