语料库辅助下《蛙》中社会称谓语的英译研究

A Corpus-based Study on English Translation of Social Address Terms in MO Yan’s Frog

文章基于自建的《蛙》的汉英平行语料库,对其中出现的社会称谓语进行了分类统计,并分别探讨了各种社会称谓语的英译,以期理清葛浩文具体采纳的翻译策略,以及所得译文是否能再现原文的本意。研究发现,葛浩文在社会称谓语的翻译实践中灵活运用了多种翻译方法,而在翻译策略上则比较倾向于归化。虽然原语的语言特点与文化内涵在归化策略下会被淡化甚至被删除,但在英语等强势文化霸权文化领域的当下,归化策略有助于中国文学、中国文化“走出去”。

Based on the Chinese-English parallel corpus of Frog,the paper makes an analysis in the English translation of social address terms in Frog by collecting and categorizing all the social address terms in this novel in order to explore the translation strategies adopted by Goldblatt and whether the translated terms can realize the original intention of the author.The result shows that Goldblatt adopts flexible means of translation and he tends to employ domestication in terms of translation strategy.The reason is that with Western culture dominant in the world,domestication can help to spread Chinese literature and culture around the globe although it may affect the expression of the original intention of the author.
