中央林业实验所是民国时期最具影响力的林业科研机构。它的创建是国民政府为满足抗战时期经济和社会发展需要而做出的应对之策,也是林业科学体制化建设的必然产物,其发展深受时事环境的影响。伴随时局的变动,该所不断对组织机构与人员数量做出调适。大体而言,中央林业实验所是近代林业科研机构体系的重要组成部分,领导了全国范围的林业科研工作,培养了一批职业化、专业化的科研人才,传播与普及了林业科学知识。

Central Forestry Laboratory was the most influential forestry research institution during the Republic of China.It was established to meet the needs of economic and social development during the War of Resistance against Japan.It was also the inevitable product of the institutionalization of modern Chinese forestry science.With the current situation changing,Central Forestry Laboratory has been making adjustments to organizations and the number of personnel.In general,Central Forestry Laboratory was an important part of the modern forestry research institution system leading the nationwide forestry research work.It cultivated a large number of scientific research talents,as well as spread and popularized the knowledge of forestry science.
