Features of moulding sand used for large-sized steel-castings were briefly introduced.Characteristics of esterhardened and CO2-hardened alkaline phenolic resin sands were emphatically introduced.The examples of applications of the ester-hardened alkaline phenolic resin sand to steel-castings for heavy-duty engineering machine,and of CO2-hardened alkaline phenolic resin sand to top grade of steel-castings for power station and petroleum equipment were introduced,and the applications indicated that the alkaline phenolic resin sands offered good service effectiveness.
