采矿工程文本中无主句的英译策略

On C-E Translation of Null-subject Sentences in Mining Engineering Texts

作为科技文体的组成之一,采矿工程文本具有客观性、严谨性、科学性等特点,这与汉语无主句的句法功能相吻合,因而在该类文本中被大量采用。本文通过实例分析,探讨了无主句的英译策略,指出可采取增补主语、选择主语、译为被动语态、使用"it"句型以及倒装句等翻译策略。

As a branch of scientific writing, mining engineering text introduces mining technologies, theories and methods of mining resources. Mostly scientific writing focuses on describing actions and stating objective facts rather than their performers. The syntactic function of null-subject sentences corresponds to this linguistic feature, so there find plenty of null-subject sentences in scientific writing. This paper suggests the translation strategies of null-subject sentences in academic writings on mining engineering, which include subject addition, subject selection, translated as passive voice, anticipatory "it" and inversion.
