Ishiguro Kazuo’s novels have various themes and never limit themselves to immigrant issues. His work carries a profound sense of social responsibility and demonstrates universal humanistic concern. His dystopian science-fiction novel Never Let Me Go, for example, blends literary naturalism and magical realism to make an elegy that poses significant moral and philosophical questions. This essay uses disability theory to dig into such issues as inclusiveness and eugenic world building by analyzing the disability of cloned people and common human beings. It unmasks the writer’s thoughts on the living conditions of post-modern humans and his humanistic concern for the socially disadvantaged.
