Summarizing Lou Duo-feng’s experience in the treatment of gout

娄多峰教授对痛风进行了数十年的临床实践和研究,提出了"虚邪瘀"理论。虚邪瘀三者既是其发生、发展、变化的基本病因病机,又是其临床最基本的证候类型,可作为本病的辨证纲领。娄教授治疗痛风从"虚邪瘀"辨证,将痛风辨证分为正虚候、邪实候、痰瘀候为纲,然后针对虚、邪、瘀各自的病机分别采用扶正、祛邪、活血通络的治则,进行论治,取得良好效果。其辨证方法针对性强,简明实用,使复杂的痛风诊治化繁为简,便于临床应用,值得进一步研究和挖掘。

Professor LOU Duo-feng has carried out clinical practice and research on gout for decades, and put forward the theory of ‘deficiency, pathogen and blood stasis’. Deficiency, pathogen and blood stasis are not only the basic etiology and pathogenesis of its occurrence, development and change, but also the most basic clinical syndrome types, which can be used as the syndrome differentiation program of the disease. Professor LOU Duo-feng used the syndrome differentiation of ‘deficiency, pathogen and blood stasis’ to treat gout. He divided the syndrome differentiation of gout into healthy qi deficiency syndrome, excessive pathogen syndrome, phlegm and blood stasis syndrome. Then, according to the respective pathogenesis of ‘deficiency, pathogen and blood stasis’, he adopted the principles of strengthening vital qi, eliminating pathogenic factor, promoting blood circulation for removing obstruction in collaterals to treat gout and achieved good results. His syndrome differentiation method is targeted, concise and practical, which makes the diagnosis and treatment of complicated gout simplified and convenient for clinical application. It is worthy of further study and excavation.
