在路上:道路旅行者的流动实践及其意义解读

On Route:Road Travelers’ Mobility Practice and an Interpretation of Its Significance

川藏公路旅行有别于强调旅途舒适与效率及目的地体验的大众旅游,成为国内近年来备受追捧的旅行方式。本文聚焦于这一新兴的特殊旅游流动实践,运用自我民族志与流动民族志方法,分析道路旅行者群体特征及其流动实践,进而解读道路旅行之于旅行者个体的多元意义。研究发现,道路旅行者以追求道路空间中的流动体验为核心特征,其旅行过程融合了审美、朝圣与苦行等多元流动实践。同时,旅行者借由道路旅行获得了双重意义:就工具性意义而言,道路旅行成为其区隔建构与反抗日常的工具;就自目的性而言,道路旅行帮助其实现对自由的体验与完成对自我的构建。本文有助于深化对道路旅行者的整体性认知,拓展对旅游者特定亚型的关注,推动旅游研究进一步关注旅游通道的重要价值。

Differing from mass tourism which emphasizes the comfort and efficiency of journey and tourists’experience in destinations,travelling along Sichuan-Tibet highway has become a popular way of travelling in China in recent years.This paper focused on this novel way of travel,applied auto-ethnography and mobile ethnography methods to analyze the characteristics of road travelers and their mobility practices,and interpreted the multiple meanings of road travel in current society.It was found that:road travelers along Sichuan-Tibet highway possess a core feature which is to pursue the mobile experience in the road space rather than at destinations;their travel incorporates multiple mobility practices such as aesthetics,pilgrimage and asceticism;road travel is regarded both as the means and the end by road travelers;they distinguish themselves from mass tourists and their practice from the banal everyday life through travelling on the road,which demonstrates the instrumental function of road travel;they travel for travel’s sake by emphasizing the feeling of freedom and the process of self-construction through a journey.This research deepened the understanding of road travelers,expanded the study on subtypes of contemporary tourists,and highlighted the importance of tourism channels.
