Objective To study the value of low-dose CT scanning in talus fractures. Methods Using PHILIPS64-row 128-slice spiral CT scanner, 180 patients with fracture of talus were selected and randomly divided into2 groups. Conventional dose group applied 120 k V tube voltage and 250 m As tube current, while low dose group applied 100 kV tube voltages and 100 m As tubes current to scan talus. Volumes CT dose indexes(CTDIvol)and dose length product(DLP) of the two groups of CT scanning modes were recorded. The image quality was independently scored and averaged by two senior physicians using double blind method. Statistical methods were rank sum test and variance analysis. Results The image quality of the two groups of patients could meet the diagnostic requirements without statistical significance(p>0.05). The radiation dose of the low dose group was significantly lower than that of the conventional group, with significant difference(p>0.05). Conclusion The low dose scanning techniques meet the requirements of clinical diagnosis and significantly reduce the radiation dose of patients.
