On the Characteristics and Modern Enlightenment of Zeng Guofan’s Political Virtue

领导干部要讲政德,政德是整个社会道德建设的风向标。从中华优秀传统文化中汲取营养是涵养道德的重要路径。曾国藩政治生涯中践履和砥砺政德的实例之中,体现出三种品格特征,即危局中的担当,险境和盛况中的定力,逆境中的坚韧。曾国藩政德实践显现的品质是对优秀传统政德文化的继承,于今人有较强的鉴示价值。

Leading cadres should attach importance to political ethics, and political ethics is the vane of moral education in the whole society.Drawing nutrition from the fine traditional Chinese culture is an important path to cultivate morality. In Zeng Guofan’s political career and practice of political ethics, three personalities were embodied, namely, the responsibility in crisis, the determination in danger and grand occasion, and the tenacity in adversity.The personalities were the inheritance to outstanding traditional political ethics, which had strong reference value to modern people.
