In the 16th century,humanism appeared on the stages of drama in the East and the West with similar features.In their dramas,Tang Xian-zu and Shakespeare revealed the instinct of human nature and the tenacious struggle between human beings and backward social thoughts from the generation,struggle and end-result of the feelings between men and women.In their dramatic plots,they showed the dramatists’reflections on the ontological value of human beings and their criticism of outmoded ethics and morality.
