Ulysses, written by James Joyce, who is a great master of modernist fictions, is taken as an object of the study. The deficiency of family warmth, the frustration toward modern society, and the helplessness for national identity are vividly portrayed, which exactly refer to a kind of spiritual wanderings so as to reveal Joyce’s identity consciousness. It believes that this spiritual wanderings is the artistic expression of the author’s own thoughts.
