台湾地区科技大学校长群体的学术与职业背景研究——基于11所典范科技大学的数据分析

Research on the Academic and Vocational Backgrounds of Presidents of Universities of Technology in Taiwan Region——Based on the Analysis of Data from 11 Exemplary Universities of Technology

通过对台湾地区科技大学现任校长群体的基本特征、学术背景与职业背景等研究梳理分析发现,这些大学的校长都有博士学位、教授职称,其中有一位为女性。他们全部就读大学数多于2所,超过4/5有留学背景,拥有理、工、管理、教育等学科背景。半数校长留校供职,近1/2有多校工作经历,少数有企业工作经历。大多数校长往往在校内外身兼数职,不足1/2任职长于5年。基于研究结果,台湾地区科技大学校长需要在学习机制建设、目标管理与考核制度及增加女性比例等方面进行改革,以提升他们的管理与发展能力。

Through the analysis of the basic characteristics,academic backgrounds and vocational backgrounds of the current presidents of universities of technology in Taiwan Region,it was found that they all have titles of doctorate and professor,and only one of them is female. All of them have studied in more than two universities with academic backgrounds in science,engineering,management,education,etc,and over 4/5 of them have study abroad experience. Furthermore,half of them have worked in the universities that they attended,and nearly 1/2 of them have working experience in multiple universities. However,only a few presidents have working experience in companies. Most presidents often hold several posts simultaneously both inside and outside the universities,and less than 1/2 of them have worked longer than 5 years as presidents. Results of the current research suggested that in order to facilitate the management skills and potential development of Taiwan Residents presidents of universities of technology,reforms should be made in several areas,including their learning mechanism construction,goal management and assessment system. Last but not least,the proportion of female university president should be increased.
