Hu Shi and His Thought of "No-disputism"

胡适是影响中国现代思想文化进程的一代宗师,但是关于其人与其文的早期评价存在不少问题,直到20世纪80年代,"重评胡适"才逐渐成为显学。子通主编的《胡适评说八十年》是其中重要的成果之一,它展现了胡适思想中一个被忽视的重要方面,即"不争主义"。通过分析胡适"不争主义"思想的形成及影响来重新认识胡适,发现他何以能够不受家庭、学界、社会的纷争所扰而潜心投入到文化与教育事业中,为后人留下丰厚的精神文化遗产。

Hu Shi was a great master who has influenced the process of modern Chinese ideology and culture,but there are many problems in the early evaluation of him the person and his writing.It was not until the 1980 s that "reevaluating Hu Shi" gradually became a prominent study.Comments on Hu Shi in His Eighty Years edited by Zi Tong is one of the important achievements,which shows a neglected important aspect of Hu Shi’s thought,i.e."no-disputism".By analyzing the formation and influence of Hu Shi’s thought of "no-disputism" so as to re-understand him,the writer of this paper finds out the reason why he could devote himself to the cause of culture and education without being disturbed by family,academic and social disputes so that he left a rich spiritual and cultural heritage to future generations.He did not care about fame and reputation at that time,which is where his wisdom lies.
