Research on the Origin of Traditional Stencil Printing Craft in Xinjiang

通过新疆传统模戳印花工艺与印度、中原地区类似工艺的比较研究,认为新疆维族传统模戳印花工艺并非起源于中原地区的活字印刷术,相反模戳印花工艺或与之类似的模板捺印技术,有可能启发了活字印刷术的产生。

After the comparative research of traditional stencil printing craft in Xinjiang and the similar craft of India and Central Plain Region,it was thought that the traditional stencil printing craft in Xinjiang was not the movable-type printing which was originated from the Central Plains Region.On the contrary,the traditional stencil printing craft or the stencil printing technology might inspire the birth of the movable-type printing.
