During World WarⅡ,in order to support the constant expansion and escalation of the aggressive war as well as guarantee the normal operation of key national industries, from 1943 to 1945 Japanese government captured approximately 40,000 Chinese laborers to work in Japan. These Chinese laborers were sent to 135 places,of which main places were 47 coal mines, where worked more than 16,000 Chinese laborers.Compared with other Chinese laborers who worked in other fields, such as civil engineering, shipbuilding, railway and harbor loading, coal miners lived under the worst safety conditions and had the largest number of casualties. To fight for survival and maintain basic dignity,Chinese laborers who worked in Japanese coal mines shed their blood, sacrificed their precious lives and struggled against Japanese rulers in many ways. Some struggles forced the Japanese to make compromises to some extent, while others were brutally suppressed, which was a tragic chapter in the history of Sino-Japanese relations.
