红二、红六军团长征中在安化"扩红"100多人,在新化"扩红"2000多人,在辰溪"扩红"300多人,在溆浦"扩红"3000多人,在邵阳、武冈等地至少"扩红"110多人,在黔阳、晃县等地至少"扩红"110多人,在湖南共"扩红"至少5600多人,成效显著。"扩红"成效显著,主要是因为:红二、红六军团高举抗日救国大旗,极大地调动起湖南人民的爱国热情;红二、红六军团高度重视、统一部署、精心组织"扩红",新化、溆浦"扩红"形成轰轰烈烈的"扩红"运动;红二、红六军团积极开展统战工作,不仅吸收工农群众,也吸收先进知识分子参加红军;红二、红六军团积极开展群众工作,模范遵守纪律,大力打击残害人民的土豪劣绅,十分重视维护、给予群众利益;党和红军,特别是贺龙在湖南影响很大;新化、溆浦等地人口众多,群众基础好;红军得到了较长时间的休整等。红二、红六军团长征中湖南"扩红",极大地增强了红二、红六军团的力量,也为此后长征中的"扩红"积累了宝贵经验,从而为取得长征胜利做出重要贡献。

The expansion of the Second and the Sixth Red Army Groups in Hunan during the Long March was fruitful.Over 100 people were recruited in Anhua,about 2000 in Xinhua,300 in Chenxi,3000 in Xupu,at least 110 in Shaoyang and Wugang,and at least 110 in Qianyang and Huangxian,with the recruited number totalling 5600 people.The expansion achieved remarkable results.The main reasons lied in that the Second and the Sixth Red Army Groups held high the banner of resisting Japanese invaders and saving the nation,thus greatly arousing the patriotic enthusiasm of Hunan people.They attached great importance to the unified deployment and meticulous organization of expansion of the Red Army,and even Xinhua and Xupu launched a vigorous expansion campaign.They actively carried out the united front work by absorbing the masses of workers and peasants,as well as the advanced intellectuals to join the Red Army.They actively carried out the work toward the masses,set up examples in abiding by disciplines,and vigorously attacked the local tyrants and evil gentry who cruelly did great harm to the people,and attached great importance to safeguarding the interests of the masses and offering them enough benefits.The Party and the Red Army,especially He Long,exerted a great influence in Hunan Province.There was a large population and a good foundation of the masses in Xinhua and Xupu,and the Red Army had a long time for rest and reorganization.The expansion of the Second and the Sixth Red Army Groups in Hunan during the Long March greatly fostered the Red Army’s strength and accumulated valuable experiences for the later expansion of the Red Army,thus making an important contribution to the victory of the Long March.
