Hermann Hesse's Peter Camenzind is deeply troubled by survival and acutely suspicious of modern civilization.He tried to follow the path of his soul.But as he walked back to his spiritual hometown,he hesitated.Peter experienced the ways of people in foreign lands,and realized himself in the progress of exploring the spiritual world.He broke his fantasy,built his faith and eventually returned to his hometown for constantly wandering soul.This eponymous novel portrayed Peter as a vagrant whose body and mind were displaced.Different from other homeless people,Peter had always had his own pursuit and belief and found the most suitable living state with a positive attitude.
