对高校更名“热”的“冷”思考

Thinking on the Renaming of Colleges or Universities

我国高校因较为频繁更名而弄丢原校名并产生纠纷的情形并非个案。高校频繁更名在一定程度反映了高校定位不明、理念偏差与大学精神迷失等现实流弊,体现了行政权力对高校资源配置的强烈影响。对于大学来说校名必不可少,但名校却并不因校名而自然生成。著名大学是历经长久的人才培养、学术积淀和文明传承而“炼成”的。我国高校及其主管部门应该克服浮躁情绪,切实扎根中国大地,确立符合教育规律和社会发展需要的现代大学理念,建立健全现代大学制度,恪守大学之道,不必为校名而大量耗费精力。

Several colleges or universities had encountered disputes regarding their original names because of frequently renamed.Such situation results from ambiguity of college or university's purpose,deviation of its principle and lost of its spirit,etc.Meanwhile,it also reflects the strong influence imposed by administrative power on allocation of higher education resource.Every college or university needs a name,but a college or university's name cannot simply give rise to its fame.Its celebrity comes from long-time teaching,academic success and historical inheritance.Both colleges or universities and administrative departments should avoid being fickle-minded and concentrate on establishing the concept of modern universities based on the law of higher education and needs of social development.The attention should be focused on building and improving modern universities system and observing higher education principles,other than spending a lot of time and energy on renaming.
