See the Social Features of Quanzhou at the End of the Yuan Dynasty from Four Prefaces of Poetries Written by Zhang Yining

张以宁约于元至正七年(1347)或八年(1348)游历泉州。其间,他广交当地名流,参与桐华诗社活动,为诗社遴选诗文结集《桐华新稿》并为之序。此外还分别为孙彦方的《草堂诗集》、赵希直的《赵希直诗集》和蒲仲昭的《蒲仲昭诗》作序。虽然这四种诗集皆早已佚失,但其序均存于《翠屏集》中,成为研究元代泉州社会以及孙、赵、蒲三大家族史的珍贵史料。《桐华新稿序》折射出元代泉州经济繁荣和文化昌盛的社会风貌,《草堂诗集序》记录了孙胜夫祖孙三代的信息,《赵希直诗集序》反映了赵氏族人在入元后为生存而选择低调处世的人生哲学,《蒲仲昭诗序》则刻画了一位潜心研学唐诗的阿拉伯后裔诗人形象。

Zhang Yining traveled to Quanzhou(Wenling)about the 7th or 8th years of Zhizheng(1347 or 1348).He made friends with local celebrities during the period,and participated in the activities of Tonghua Poetry Club,selected and collected poems in Tonghua Xingao and prefaced it.He also wrote prefaces of poetries for Sun Yanfang,Zhao Xizhi and Pu Zhongzhao.Although these four kinds of poetry anthology have long been lost,but the prefaces of them all in Cuiping Ji,which has become a precious historical material for the study of the three families histories of Sun,Zhao and Pu in Quanzhou in the Yuan Dynasty as well as the social outlook of Quanzhou.The Preface of Tonghua Xingao reflects Quanzhou flourishing economy and culture in the Yuan Dynasty.The Preface of Caotang Shiji records the three generations of Sun Shengfu’s family.The Preface of Zhaoxizhi Shiji reflects the people of the Zhao Clan chose a low\|key philosophy in order to survive under the new dynasty.The Preface of Puzhongzhao Shi depicts a poet of Arab descent who devoted himself to study the poetry of the Tang Dynasty.
