The study of environmental communication in China started in the early 1990 s and has undergone great development for nearly 30 years. This paper describes the academic landscape of the current research through the study of CNKI related literature and the method of keyword analysis. It is found that environmental media research environmental construction research and environmental social research have jointly constructed the three-dimensional landscape of environmental communication research in China, and embodied some distinct Chinese characteristics, including the overall outlook of shuttle-shaped structure, highlighting the distinct purport of political and social functions,as well as the path expectation of multi-cooperative mechanism. However, there still exit such problems as weak theoretical construction, polarization of content, relatively simplex regions, and speculation-oriented methods. Based on these analysis, this paper points out that the above limitations are the direction of future academic landscape construction, and preliminarily discusses the possibility of ethnological and anthropological turn in environmental communication research.
