American Chinese Sinologist Shang Wei’s Study on the Scholars with Ritual and Cultural Transformation in Late Imperial China

美国华裔汉学家商伟教授在他的专著《礼与十八世纪的文化转折:<儒林外史>研究》中对《儒林外史》进行了深入研究。他从思想史和文化史的角度对这部思想性很强的小说进行诠释;将《儒林外史》定位为文人小说,讨论它作为文人小说在叙事方式上的创新,探讨其对正史权威叙述的反驳、无情的自我质疑、强烈的自我意识,重释了文人小说。

American Chinese scholar Shang Wei studied the Scholars from the perspective of intellectual history in his book Ritual and Cultural Transformation in Late Imperial China.He thought of the Scholars as“literati novels”and discussed how narrative creation served thought in this novel.He explained literati novels from self-doubt,self-awareness.This book provided new angle and enlightenment for the studies of Chinese classical novels.
