Modernity of Ceramic Art: An Observation from Body Noumenon

现代陶艺于二十世纪80年代进入中国,但至今尚无一个可清晰描述与认知现代陶艺的恰当角度与理论框架。以身体维度透视现代陶艺,就是通过对中国陶艺史的梳理,确立一个研究现代陶艺的逻辑起点,以身体为透镜,通过追溯"陶"的本原意义,以及对"制陶时代"、"陶瓷时代"与"陶艺时代"的代际特征分析,打通深入探究现代陶艺的路径,明确其存在理论基础,据此辨析现代陶艺与其它艺术形态的本质区别,最终把握现代陶艺的本质与意义:现代陶艺不是一个具有其它意义指向的形态系统,现代陶艺是以身体意涵的复活,或救赎为旨归。

Modern ceramic art entered China in 1980s, but there’s still not a proper perspective for its comprehensive understanding, nor is there a clearly-defined frame of theory in which it can be studied. The perception of modern ceramic art from body noumenon by tracking the development of ceramics in China is aimed to set a starting point for its logic study, by which ceramics is compared to a body as a whole. By tracing to the original meaning of ceramics, analyzing the features marking the boundaries from the age of pottery, to the age of ceramics and finally to the age of ceramic art, it lays a path into modern ceramics to find its theoretical foundation, to identify its essential differences from other art forms, and to grasp its nature and fundamental value. It concludes: modern ceramic art is not a system of other denotations but a system that rediscovers the meanings of body, or spiritual redemption.
