English historiography changed both its content and form during the Renaissance period,and new historiographic genres and thoughts had begun to emerge.The English historiography of the Renaissance period was rooted in humanistic tradition,but it also contains the elements of positivism and pragmatism.It sought after historical truth,yet without dismissing practical value.The coexistence of empirical and practical tendencies during this period deserves careful discussion.
