A Review of Russian Far East Studies in New Asia

《新亚细亚》月刊作为民国时期影响较大的边疆研究刊物之一,在俄罗斯远东地区的研究也形成了一批有价值的成果。新亚细亚学人对俄罗斯远东地区也颇为重视,主要原因出于中俄两国地理位置接壤以及国家安全、遏制日本在东北势力发展的考虑。《新亚细亚》月刊的俄罗斯远东地区研究主要集中在俄罗斯侵占西伯利亚的历史、中俄远东治理史、民族学与民族史、俄罗斯远东资源四个方面,其研究与时代背景紧密结合;研究重点在政治与民族;研究被置于边疆民族问题的大框架下因而对远东西区的研究成果比较分散。

As one of the most influential journals on frontier studies in the republic of China,New Asia has achieved a batch of valuable achievements in the research on the Russian Far East.The scholars of New Asia attach great importance to the Russian Far East mainly due to the geographical proximity of China and Russia,the national security as well as the consideration of curbing the development of Japanese power in the northeast.The studies on the Russian Far East in the monthly journal of New Asia focuses on the following four aspects:the history of Russia’s occupation of Siberia,the history of governing Far East in China and Russia,ethnology and ethnic history,and the resources of the Russian Far East.However,the research achievements on Far East are relatively scattered due to the following reasons:being closely related to historical background,focusing on politics and ethnicity,and being placed in the great framework of frontier ethnic studies.
