从目的论看《习近平谈治国理政》(第一卷)文化负载词的英译

On the English Translation of Culture-loaded Words in Xi Jinping: The Governance of China I from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

以目的论为指导,评析《习近平谈治国理政》(第一卷)英译本对五类文化负载词的翻译,并就选择翻译策略给出建议。研究发现,极具经济性的意译策略在其中有着丰富的运用;对于某些文化负载词而言,采用直译和直译加注的翻译策略不失为一种好的选择。这对于促进中国独有文化的对外传播,以及世界了解中国政治思想和习近平总书记语言魅力均具有积极意义,期待为从事文化翻译的译者提供一定的启示。

From the perspective of Skopos Theory,this paper analyzes and evaluates the English translation of the five types of culture-loaded words in Xi Jinping:The Governance of China Ⅰ,giving some suggestions on the choice of translation strategies.The study shows that free translation,as an economical strategy,is frequently adopted in the English version while the author of this paper believes that literal translation and literal translation plus annotation are good choices for some culture-loaded words,which helps to shed light on the external dissemination of the unique terms in Chinese culture,the world’s understanding of Chinese political thought and of the language charm of Chinese President Xi Jinping,and is expected to draw enlightment for translators serving for cultural translation.
