Layout and Function of the Military Setup on Qinfeng Road in Northern Song Dynasty

北宋初期,政府实行“弃边守关”的政策,将西北防御纵深向内收缩,于西北边地设置一系列的军事寨堡,一方面作为开疆守土的基地,另一方面可以用来维系边地的民族关系。熙宁以后,西北拓边活动日渐频繁,秦凤路军事布局的重要性日益突出。秦凤路以军事前沿对抗、多重军事建置体系布置、纵深防御与进攻以及联络当地土著居民争取力量支持的多种举措维持着北宋御边军事战略的实行。

In the early Northern Song Dynasty,the government implemented the policy of abandoning border guards,contracting the defense of Northwest China in depth,and setting up a series of military fortresses in the Northwest.On the one hand,it guarded the border guards,on the other hand,it maintained the ethnic relations in the border areas.After Xining,the frontier activities in Northwest China are becoming more frequent.The importance of the military layout of Qinfeng Road is increasingly prominent.It maintained the implementation of military strategy through various measures such as military confrontation front,multiple military construction system arrangement,deep defense and attack,and contacted local indigenous people for strength support.
