The Lecture Activities of Yangming Post-School in Beijing

阳明后学承继阳明重视讲学,以为不讲学不足以明道的思想精神,以讲学为事、以讲学为乐,遂使中晚明的心学思潮与讲学运动密不可分。讲学兴盛,使得心学思想风靡一时,轰动朝野。而京师乃明朝中枢,阳明后学在此频频举兴讲会,有的参加者达数千人之多,这当然有力扩大了阳明心学的影响。

Yangming post-school inherited Yangming’s emphasis on teaching and thought that it was not enough to understand the Word without teaching.It took teaching as a matter and teaching as a pleasure,so that the trend of thought of psychology in the middle and late Ming Dynasty was inseparable from the teaching movement.Flourishing lectures makes the mind theory stirring the country.Beijing,as the center of the Ming Dynasty,held numerous lectures.That the participants were even up to several thousands greatly expanded the influence of Yangming School of mind theory.
