A Preliminary Study of Chen Zi, a Poet in the Late Qing Dynasty

陈鼒(1822-1907),字南村,清代蜀中蓬溪县人。咸丰六年(1856)至咸丰十一年(1861)陈鼒从征新疆喀什倭里罕之乱,为维护祖国统一、打击分裂势力、抵御外敌入侵,作出了贡献。历任江西峡江、德化等县知县,义宁州知州。性好吟咏,撰有《出塞吟》《南村诗集》等。本文对陈鼒生平、政绩、诗文和交游作了初探。

Chen Zi(1822-1907), also called Nancun, was born in Pengxi County in the Qing Dynasty.From the sixth year of Xianfeng(1856) to the 11 th year of Xianfeng(1861), Chen Yu made a contribution to the reconciliation of the Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. He defended the reunification of the motherland, cracked down on the separatist forces, and resisted the invasion of foreign enemies. He has served as the county magistrate of Xiajiang and Dehua in Jiangxi, and chief of Yining. He is very good at poems, and he has written "Chu Sai Yin" and "Nancun Poetry Collection". This article makes a preliminary exploration of Chen Zi’s life, political achievements, poetry and communication.
