著名劳动模范李顺达是农业合作化时代的典型人物。李顺达带领平顺西沟农民艰苦奋斗,建设山区,使得山西农业合作化运动的发展走在时代的前列,更是带动了全国农业合作化运动化的高潮到来。1952年农业合作化运动方兴未艾,李顺达作为农业方面的全国劳动模范访问苏联,亲身感受到苏联农业合作化、机械化和农林牧综合发展带来的好处。回国后,李顺达积极宣传苏联经验,结合西沟实际情况带动当地农民综合发展农林畜牧。李顺达等代表团成员出访苏联的见闻和感想,推进了山西乃至中国的农业合作化进程。
